Ramey's journey began in the hollows of West Virginia, where he discovered his passion for songwriting after graduating college with a Masters in English Literature. Raised among skilled artisans, his relatives were true Appalachians, deeply connected to the earth and its ancient story through their work in woodwork, canvas, and various musical instruments.
Music became an integral part of Ramey's life, whether it was the spontaneous family gatherings or the heartfelt hymns sung at church meetings. While he wrote music and played in high school bands, Ramey truly found his musical "fever" when he led The Dixie Flyer Band to the state finals of the True Value Hardware Country Showdown after winning a local contest, earning $1000.
